Agadir Airport to city centre transport is straightforward once you understand the three main choices: the AE airport bus, an airport grand taxi or a prebooked private transfer. The drive usually takes around 30–40 minutes in normal traffic, while the bus is scheduled to take about 50 minutes.

There is no train from Agadir Al Massira Airport to the city.

Where Is Agadir Al Massira Airport?

Agadir Al Massira Airport, whose airport code is AGA, is southeast of Agadir. It is roughly 24–25 kilometers from the central city and beachfront hotel zone.

Do not confuse it with an airport beside the resort strip. Even when your hotel name includes “Agadir Beach,” you still need road transport after landing.

The airport is also used by travelers staying north of Agadir in Tamraght, Taghazout and Taghazout Bay. Those destinations are farther from the terminal because the route must continue around or through the Agadir urban area before following the coast north.

Option 1: AE Airport Bus from Agadir Airport

The AE Aerobus is the cheapest simple option for most independent travelers. It connects Agadir Al Massira Airport with P.E. Vallée des Oiseaux in central Agadir.

According to the official ALSA airport shuttle page, the journey takes about 50 minutes. The current fare is 50 MAD for a one-way ticket or 80 MAD for a return ticket per person.

Tickets can be purchased onboard or from the ALSA commercial agency at the airport. Carry Moroccan dirhams because cash is the safest assumption for an onboard purchase.

Where Does the Airport Bus Stop in Agadir?

The city terminus is P.E. Vallée des Oiseaux, close to the central tourist area. This is useful for the city centre and parts of the beachfront, but it is not the door of every hotel.

Check your accommodation on a map before choosing the bus. From the final stop, you may need to walk or take a small orange petit taxi to Talborjt, the marina, Founty or a hotel farther along the bay.

How Often Does the AE Bus Run?

ALSA publishes separate weekday, Saturday and Sunday timetables. Services cover early and late arrivals, but the gaps are not equal throughout the day, especially overnight.

Do not rely on a travel blog screenshot or assume the bus leaves every hour at all times. Check the official schedule shortly before your flight and note the correct direction: “Al Massira Airport Agadir” for the journey into the city and “P.E. Vallée des Oiseaux” for the return departure point.

Who Should Take the Bus?

I would choose the AE bus when all of these are true:

• You arrive while the published service is operating.
• You are traveling alone or as a couple.
• Your luggage is manageable.
• Your accommodation is central or you are comfortable taking a short taxi after the bus.
• Saving money matters more than reaching the hotel door immediately.

The bus becomes less attractive for four people because the combined ticket cost and final taxi may approach the cost of sharing a direct vehicle. It is also inconvenient when a delayed flight leaves you facing a long wait.

Option 2: Taxi from Agadir Airport

Official airport taxis wait outside the Arrivals area. Airport journeys use grand taxis rather than the small orange petit taxis used for short trips inside Agadir.

A taxi is the easiest option when you have not booked ahead but still want a direct ride. In normal traffic, allow roughly 30–40 minutes to central Agadir, with extra time for Founty, the marina or congestion around the resort area.

How Much Is a Taxi from Agadir Airport to Agadir?

Recent sources do not agree on one reliable public fare. A sensible planning range for a standard airport-to-central-Agadir journey is around 200–250 MAD during the day, with a higher fare possible at night. Treat that as guidance, not a guaranteed official price.

Look for the displayed airport tariff where available and confirm the full amount before your bags are placed in the vehicle. Ask whether the quoted total includes luggage and whether you are paying for the whole taxi or sharing it with other passengers.

Do not agree to a vague answer such as “normal price” or “we decide at the hotel.” A clear total before departure prevents most arguments.

Does an Agadir Airport Taxi Use a Meter?

Do not expect the airport grand taxi journey to operate like a metered petit taxi inside the city. Agree on the airport fare before leaving.

Show the driver your hotel name and address. Several properties have similar names, and “Agadir” can refer to a large area that includes beachfront hotels, Founty and resorts north of the city.

If your accommodation is an apartment, ask the host for a map pin and a nearby landmark. A street address alone may be less useful in a new development.

Taxi Tips That Actually Matter

• Use the official taxi rank rather than accepting an unsolicited offer inside the terminal.
• Confirm the total fare before loading your bags.
• Ask whether luggage or a night supplement changes the price.
• Keep small Moroccan-dirham notes for payment.
• Check that everyone and every bag fits before agreeing to the ride.
• Save the hotel’s phone number or map pin in case the driver needs directions.

Most airport journeys are uncomplicated. The important step is agreeing on the same destination and total price before the car moves.

Option 3: Prebooked Private Transfer

A private transfer is the most predictable option. You book your flight, arrival time, group size and destination before traveling, then a driver meets you at or near Arrivals and takes you directly to the accommodation.

This is not automatically necessary for every visitor. If you arrive in daylight with one bag and your hotel is near the AE route, the bus may be perfectly reasonable.

I recommend comparing a transfer when you arrive late, travel with young children, carry several bags or surfboards, need a larger vehicle or are staying outside central Agadir.

Before paying, check:

• Whether the quote is per person or per vehicle.
• The number of passengers and bags included.
• Whether flight monitoring and waiting time are included.
• The exact meeting point.
• Child-seat availability.
• Surfboard or oversized-luggage rules.
• Cancellation and missed-flight terms.
• Whether the destination is central Agadir, Founty, Tamraght or Taghazout.

Option 4: Renting a Car at Agadir Airport

Renting a car at the airport can make sense when Agadir is the start of a wider road trip. It is useful for independent days toward Taghazout, the Souss region or several excursions where public transport would be slow.

It is unnecessary for a normal beach holiday. Parking, unfamiliar roads and hotel access can make a car more work than help when you plan to stay mainly on the promenade, visit Souk El Had and use taxis inside the city.

At pickup, photograph every side of the car, the wheels, windscreen, fuel gauge and mileage. Ask the agent to record existing damage on the contract before you leave the airport.

If your flight lands late and you are tired, consider staying in Agadir and collecting a car the next morning. Driving an unfamiliar route after a long travel day is not always the best start to a holiday.

Agadir Airport to the Beachfront, Founty and Marina

“Agadir city centre” is not one precise hotel zone. Two travelers on the same flight may have different transfer times even though both bookings say Agadir.

Central Agadir and Talborjt

Central Agadir and Talborjt are practical for restaurants, local city life and access to several attractions. The AE bus is useful if your accommodation is close to its route or you do not mind a short petit-taxi connection.

Agadir Beach and the Tourist Zone

Hotels around the main beach and promenade are generally straightforward by taxi or transfer. Some are walkable from central stops, but walking with heavy luggage is different from walking the same distance during sightseeing.

Founty

Founty is south of the central beachfront and contains many larger resorts. A direct taxi or transfer is easier than carrying luggage from the bus route, especially after dark.

Agadir Marina

The marina is north of the central beach zone. Traffic near the seafront and the exact entrance to a hotel or apartment can add time, so share the precise property name rather than saying only “the marina.”

Agadir Airport to Taghazout or Tamraght

Taghazout is not in Agadir city centre. It lies north along the Atlantic coast, and the airport is roughly 48 kilometers away. A direct taxi or private transfer commonly takes around one hour in light traffic, but congestion through Greater Agadir and the coastal corridor can make the journey longer.

The public-transport route is possible but not direct. You first take the AE airport bus into Agadir, then change to a northbound local bus. Including the transfer and waiting time, the trip can take well over two hours.

For one traveler arriving in daylight, that may still be worthwhile. With two or more people, surf equipment, children or an evening arrival, compare a direct vehicle before deciding.

Tamraght and Taghazout Bay are different drop-off zones from Taghazout village. Enter the exact hotel, apartment or surf camp when requesting a quote.

My rule is to compare the whole journey, not only the first ticket. A 50 MAD bus is excellent value when you can walk from the final stop, but less convenient when it is followed by a long wait, a second taxi and heavy luggage.

Arriving at Agadir Airport Late at Night

Late arrivals are when advance planning matters most. The AE bus operates across a wide part of the day, but overnight gaps can be long and schedules may change.

Take a screenshot of the current timetable before flying. If the next bus leaves much later than your arrival, book a transfer or use the official taxi rank rather than waiting without a clear plan.

Send your accommodation your flight number and expected arrival time when reception is not open 24 hours. A driver reaching the correct address does not help if nobody can let you into an apartment.

Cash, Cards and Paying for the Journey

Carry enough Moroccan dirhams for a bus ticket, taxi and small unexpected expense. Do not assume a taxi driver or bus can take a foreign card.

Airport exchange desks are convenient but may not give the best rate. An ATM can be useful, but card and withdrawal fees depend on your bank and the machine.

Keep smaller notes where possible. Paying a 50 MAD bus fare or a taxi with a very large banknote can create an unnecessary change problem.

Traveling with Children, Wheelchairs or Large Luggage

Families should check the complete door-to-door journey. The AE bus can be comfortable, but the final walk or taxi connection may be the difficult part with a stroller and suitcases.

If you need a child seat, request it before confirming a private transfer. Do not assume an airport taxi will have the correct seat available without notice.

Travelers with reduced mobility should ask for the precise vehicle type, assistance arrangement and hotel access. “Accessible transfer” should mean more than space in the boot; confirm boarding height, wheelchair storage and whether the traveler can remain in the chair.

Surfers should declare board length and the number of board bags. A normal sedan that fits the passengers may not fit the equipment safely.

Common Agadir Airport Transfer Mistakes

Assuming Every Agadir Hotel Is Central

Founty, the marina, Taghazout Bay, Tamraght and Taghazout are not the same destination. Use the complete accommodation name and map pin.

Trusting an Old Bus Timetable

The AE schedule differs by day and can change. Check ALSA shortly before travel instead of relying on an old screenshot.

Accepting a Taxi Without Confirming the Total

Agree on the destination, whole-vehicle price, night supplement and luggage before leaving the rank.

Booking the Smallest Transfer Vehicle

Passenger capacity does not equal luggage capacity. Count suitcases, strollers and boards before selecting the vehicle.

Renting a Car Only for the Airport Journey

A rental car is poor value when it will remain parked at a beachfront hotel. Use one when it supports the rest of the itinerary.

Leaving the Return Journey Until the Last Minute

Airport traffic is only one part of the timing. Hotel pickup delays, check-in queues and security also matter.

Returning from Agadir to the Airport

Plan the return before your final evening. If you bought the 80 MAD AE return ticket, keep it safe and confirm the current departure time from P.E. Vallée des Oiseaux.

For a taxi, ask your hotel to arrange the pickup or agree with a reliable driver in advance. Confirm that the quoted time is the hotel pickup time, not the time the driver expects to reach the airport.

For an international flight, I would normally aim to reach the terminal around three hours before departure unless the airline gives different instructions. Add a traffic buffer rather than planning from the shortest driving time you saw online.

Early-morning departures are usually easier with a prearranged taxi or transfer. A missed flight costs far more than the difference between transport options.
