Yes, staying in Ouarzazate can make the road to Merzouga easier, especially if you do not want to rush from Marrakech all the way to the desert.
A common mistake is trying to do too much in one day: Marrakech, Tizi n’Tichka, Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, Dades Valley, and Merzouga.
That is too much for most travelers.
A better rhythm is:
