New Year’s Eve in Marrakech: Where to Celebrate 2026/2027

New Year’s Eve in Marrakech can be very different depending on where you spend it.

You can have a Moroccan dinner with live musicians inside the Medina, dress up for a hotel gala in Hivernage, eat on a rooftop overlooking the old city or continue dancing long after midnight.

What I would not do is arrive on December 31 expecting the whole city to become one enormous street party.

In Marrakech, most New Year celebrations are built around individual hotels, restaurants, rooftops and nightlife venues. That means choosing the right place matters much more than simply being somewhere in the city at midnight.

Quick Answer: Is Marrakech Good for New Year’s Eve?

Yes. Marrakech is one of the best places in Morocco if you want a choice between good restaurants, luxury hotels, Moroccan entertainment, rooftops and nightlife.

You can make the evening as quiet or as lively as you want.

A couple might prefer dinner in the Medina and drinks on a rooftop. A family may be more comfortable at a hotel with a proper dinner program. If you want music and dancing until late, Hivernage gives you more options.

The key is to reserve the main part of your night before you arrive.

December 31 is not the evening when I would walk around at 10:30 pm hoping to find a good table somewhere popular.

New Year’s Eve 2026 or New Year’s Eve 2027?

This can be confusing when you search online.

The upcoming New Year’s Eve takes place on December 31, 2026, when Marrakech welcomes 2027.

Some venues therefore advertise it as “New Year’s Eve 2027,” while travelers often search for “New Year Marrakech 2026” because the evening begins in 2026.

Everything marked as current in this guide refers to December 31, 2026 into January 1, 2027.

What Kind of New Year’s Eve Do You Want?

Before choosing a restaurant, I would decide what kind of night you actually want.

Where to Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Marrakech

Medina: Best for Marrakech Atmosphere

If you want the evening to still feel connected to Marrakech, I would look seriously at the Medina.

You can spend the afternoon walking through the souks, return to your riad to change and then walk to dinner without spending the night moving between taxis and large hotels.

Medina celebrations range from traditional Moroccan restaurants to stylish rooftops with DJs.

The main disadvantage is access. Cars cannot reach every street, so know exactly how you will get back to your riad if your dinner finishes late.

Hivernage: Best for Big New Year Celebrations

Hivernage is where I would look if you want a larger hotel gala, dinner show or nightlife after midnight.

Many of Marrakech’s higher-end hotels and established nightlife venues are concentrated around this part of the city.

It is easier to build a full night here: dinner, drinks and then somewhere to continue dancing without crossing the entire Medina.

The trade-off is price. December 31 programs in Hivernage can be expensive, especially when dinner and entertainment are sold as one package.

Guéliz: Best for Modern Restaurants

Guéliz works well if you want a modern Marrakech night without necessarily paying for a large luxury-hotel gala.

You have restaurants, bars and much easier vehicle access than deep inside the Medina.

If you plan to eat in Guéliz and then move to Hivernage later, arrange the second part of the evening in advance.

Palmeraie and Resorts Outside the Center

Some larger resorts outside central Marrakech also organize New Year dinners and entertainment.

This can work very well if you are staying there.

I am less enthusiastic about booking an isolated resort event if your hotel is deep inside the Medina because you then need to think about late-night transport both ways.

Confirmed New Year’s Eve 2027 Events in Marrakech

Last checked: September 6, 2026. I will update this section as more Marrakech venues publish their December 31 programs.

I am keeping this section strict.

If I cannot verify a current December 31, 2026 program, I will not present last year’s menu as if it were confirmed for this year.

Dar Essalam

Dar Essalam has already published its program for the night welcoming 2027.

This is one of the better choices if you want a traditional Moroccan-style evening rather than a nightclub atmosphere.

The current program includes a welcome cocktail, briouates, Moroccan salads, chicken and almond pastilla, beef and chicken tagines, fruit, tea or coffee and Moroccan pastries.

The entertainment includes the Dar Essalam orchestra, Dakkah musicians, Gnawa, oriental dancers and other performances.

The published price is 1,500 MAD per person with non-alcoholic beverages or 1,900 MAD with the alcoholic beverage package.

My take: good for travelers who want dinner and Moroccan entertainment in one place without turning the evening into a club night.

Dardar Rooftop

Dardar has also published its current New Year program for the night welcoming 2027.

This is a very different style from Dar Essalam.

The program is built around a rooftop dinner, open bar from 9 pm to midnight excluding champagne, DJs, violin, Gnawa musicians, a magician and oriental dancers.

The current menu includes seafood starters, oyster bar, lobster carpaccio, John Dory pastilla, beef Rossini and a dessert buffet.

The published price is 3,000 MAD per person.

My take: better for couples or groups who want a stylish Medina rooftop and a much livelier evening.

Loulou’s Marrakech

Loulou’s Marrakech has published its program for December 31, 2026, with dinner and live entertainment continuing into the early hours.

The evening includes a festive menu with a choice of starters, main courses and desserts, plus a vegetarian option.

Entertainment builds throughout the evening with oriental and contemporary dancers, Gnawa musicians, percussionists, violin, live singers and two DJs.

The program starts from 8 pm, with performances during the evening and DJs continuing after midnight.

My take: a good option for travelers who want a polished dinner-show atmosphere with plenty happening after midnight.

Leopard Marrakech

Leopard Marrakech is also accepting reservations for its December 31, 2026 New Year dinner show.

The current booking page lists €250 per person for the terrace and €300 per person for the indoor hall, with full payment required when booking.

It also publishes specific cancellation conditions for New Year reservations, so read them carefully before paying.

My take: worth considering if you want a modern dinner-show evening and prefer to secure the whole night in one venue.

Places I Would Watch for Their 2026/2027 Program

Marrakech has several established venues that have organized strong New Year programs in previous years.

That does not mean their old menu, price or entertainment will be repeated on December 31, 2026.

I would watch these places as their current programs are released.

Comptoir Darna

Comptoir Darna in Hivernage is one of the best-known dinner-and-show venues in Marrakech.

Its previous New Year program combined dinner with traditional musicians, oriental dancers, DJs and other performers.

For the previous celebration it charged 3,500 MAD per person excluding beverages, required payment to confirm the booking and used a smart-casual dress code.

That was the previous program, not a confirmed December 31, 2026 price.

If you like the idea of dinner followed by a show and a lively Hivernage atmosphere, it is one I would check when the new program is published.

La Mamounia

La Mamounia is an obvious place to watch if your budget is at the luxury end.

For the previous New Year, its restaurants offered separate special dinners rather than one single generic hotel gala.

I would wait for the official 2026/2027 program before quoting any menu or price.

This is exactly the kind of hotel where booking conditions matter as much as the room rate.

Mövenpick Mansour Eddahbi

Mövenpick is especially interesting for travelers who want a hotel where different generations can celebrate in the same property.

Its previous program offered a large music-hall style evening with live music, cabaret and a DJ, plus a separate Moroccan dinner option.

It also offered a children’s dinner and childcare program.

I would check what returns for December 31, 2026 rather than assuming last year’s format will be identical.

El Fenn

El Fenn is one I would watch if you want a stylish Medina rooftop rather than a large hotel ballroom.

It has used dinner plus a later rooftop party format in previous New Year celebrations.

Because rooftop capacity is limited, this is the kind of place where I would book quickly if its new program suits you.

Épicurien and Theatro

If your priority is staying out late, Épicurien and Theatro are worth watching.

The usual attraction here is that you can start with dinner, live music and entertainment and then continue into a nightclub atmosphere afterward.

This is much better suited to adults looking for nightlife than a family with young children.

Buddha-Bar Marrakech

Buddha-Bar has also run large themed New Year celebrations in previous years.

If you want a polished international dinner-show experience rather than a quiet Moroccan restaurant, check its current December 31 program when released.

I would not use an old price as a guide because premium New Year packages can change significantly from year to year.

La Trattoria

La Trattoria in Guéliz is worth watching if you want something more dinner-focused and less like a nightclub.

The setting is very different from the Medina and works well for couples looking for an elegant restaurant evening.

What About a Free Public New Year Event and Fireworks?

This is where old Marrakech advice can become misleading very quickly.

For the night of December 31, 2025, Marrakech had an official free New Year event at the Bab Jdid Fan Zone with shows, DJs and midnight fireworks.

That does not automatically mean the same event will return on December 31, 2026.

At the moment, I would not promise a public fireworks display until an official Marrakech program is announced.

If the city confirms a public event for the night welcoming 2027, I will update this guide.

If fireworks are important to your evening, also ask your hotel or restaurant whether its own current program includes them.

Should You Spend Midnight in Jemaa el-Fnaa?

I would definitely visit Jemaa el-Fnaa during your trip, but I would not automatically choose it as your entire New Year plan.

The square can be busy and lively, but it is not the same thing as having a reserved table, a dinner program and somewhere comfortable to stay until midnight.

If what you want is to walk around, eat street food and experience the Medina atmosphere, that can be fun.

If you want a countdown, champagne, live entertainment and a table for the whole evening, book a venue that is specifically offering those things.

Hotel Gala Dinners: Read the Conditions Before You Book

This is one of the easiest ways to get an unpleasant surprise when booking Marrakech for New Year.

A hotel room may look reasonably priced until you discover that December 31 comes with a compulsory dinner charge.

At other hotels, the gala may already be included in the room rate.

Riad Mabrouk

Riad Mabrouk currently states that all bookings including the night of December 31, 2026 have a mandatory New Year dinner supplement of 1,500 MAD per person.

That is exactly why I tell travelers to read the fine print before paying.

Les Jardins de la Koutoubia

Les Jardins de la Koutoubia currently states that its December 31, 2026 gala dinner is included in the room rate.

That creates a completely different price comparison from a hotel where the dinner is added afterward.

Before booking any New Year hotel, I would check:

• whether the gala dinner is compulsory
• whether it is already included in the room rate
• the price for children
• whether drinks are included
• whether the hotel requires a minimum stay
• whether the New Year booking is refundable
• whether you can choose another restaurant instead

Compare the total New Year stay, not just the room price shown on the first screen.

New Year’s Eve in Marrakech for Couples

Marrakech is very good for couples because you do not have to spend December 31 inside a huge party. If you are planning the rest of the trip together, see my Marrakech for couples guide.

I would think about the whole day rather than only midnight.

You could walk the Medina in the morning, have lunch on a sunny rooftop, book a hammam in the afternoon, return to your riad and then go somewhere special for dinner.

If you want romantic rather than loud, I would look toward a beautiful Medina restaurant, a good rooftop or a luxury-hotel restaurant rather than a nightclub package.

If you want to keep going after midnight, Hivernage makes more sense.

New Year’s Eve in Marrakech With Kids

Families need to look beyond the word “gala.”

Ask how the actual evening works.

What time is dinner? Is there a children’s menu? Do children pay the full adult price? Is there childcare? Will the music continue until 3 am directly below your room?

A large hotel can be easier because dinner, entertainment and your room are all in one place.

Some Marrakech hotels have offered dedicated children’s programs in previous years, so this is worth asking about as the 2026/2027 programs are released.

I would not build a family New Year night around a late-night club.

What to Do During the Day on December 31

Do not exhaust yourself before an evening you have paid a lot of money to enjoy.

I would keep December 31 fairly relaxed.

Walk through the Medina, visit one palace or garden, have a good lunch and leave enough time to return to your accommodation before dinner.

December is comfortable for spending longer in the souks because you are not dealing with the strongest summer heat.

What Is the Weather Like on New Year’s Eve in Marrakech?

Do not choose your midnight clothes based on how warm you felt at lunch.

A sunny late-December afternoon in Marrakech can be very pleasant, but temperatures fall quickly after sunset.

Rooftops, terraces and outdoor gardens can feel cold later in the evening.

Bring a proper jacket or warm layer even if you are dressing formally.

If you have booked an outdoor venue, ask about heaters, blankets and indoor backup.

What Should You Wear?

There is no single Marrakech New Year dress code.

The venue decides.

A luxury hotel gala may call for elegant evening wear. A restaurant such as Comptoir Darna has used smart-casual rules. A relaxed Medina dinner can be much less formal.

Always check the venue before you pack.

And choose shoes you can actually walk in if you are staying inside the Medina.

Getting Around Marrakech After Midnight

I would solve transport before you sit down for dinner.

Demand for taxis and drivers is higher on December 31, and traffic can build around popular hotels and nightlife areas.

If you are staying in a Medina riad, remember that the vehicle may not reach the door.

Ask your accommodation where the nearest accessible drop-off point is and how you will walk from there.

If your New Year dinner is inside your own hotel, you avoid most of this problem.

How Early Should You Book?

If New Year is the reason for the trip, I would book accommodation first.

Then choose your December 31 evening.

You should book particularly early if you want a specific luxury hotel, a limited rooftop, a large family table or one of the better-known dinner shows.

Some New Year reservations also require full or partial prepayment.

Before paying, understand the cancellation policy. December 31 conditions can be much stricter than a normal restaurant reservation.

I would leave normal sightseeing, lunch and café stops flexible.

What I Would Avoid on New Year’s Eve in Marrakech

Do not rely on last year’s menu. New Year prices, performers and conditions change every year.

Do not assume Marrakech will have public fireworks. Wait for the current official city program.

Do not compare hotels by room price alone. Check mandatory gala dinners and minimum stays.

Do not arrive at a famous restaurant without a reservation. December 31 often uses set menus and advance payment.

Do not leave your return transport until 1 am. Know how you are getting back before dinner.

Do not wear only what worked during the afternoon. Marrakech can be chilly at midnight.

Do not book the loudest party because somebody else says it is the “best.” A quiet Medina dinner may be a much better New Year for you than a five-hour club event.

Is New Year’s Eve in Marrakech Worth It?

Yes, if Marrakech itself is part of what you want to experience.

I would not choose it only because you are searching for the biggest fireworks show.

I would choose Marrakech because December 31 can combine the Medina, good food, Moroccan entertainment, beautiful hotels, rooftops and nightlife in the same city.

You can spend the day exploring and make the evening as traditional, romantic, luxurious or lively as you want.

The only part I would not leave to chance is your main December 31 reservation.
