Casablanca Airport to city centre transport

Casablanca Airport to City Centre: Best Transport Options

Casablanca Airport to city centre transport includes the ONCF train, Aérobus, official airport taxis, private transfers and rental cars. The best option depends on your arrival time, hotel location, luggage and onward travel plans.
For most solo travelers and couples arriving during the day, I recommend the train. It is inexpensive, avoids Casablanca traffic and connects the airport directly with Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port.
If you arrive late, carry several bags, travel with children or want to reach your hotel door without changing transport, an official taxi or pre-booked private transfer is usually the easier choice.
I’m Kamal, a nationally licensed Moroccan tour guide. I have been guiding travelers across Morocco since 2006, and Casablanca is often their first arrival point. This guide explains which airport transfer actually makes sense according to your arrival time, hotel location, luggage and onward route.

Casablanca Airport to City Centre: Quick Answer

The ONCF train is the best-value option for most daytime arrivals. The station is below Terminal 1, and trains connect the airport with Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port without a change.
Choose Casa-Port when you are staying around the city centre, Old Medina, Central Market or port area. Choose Casa-Voyageurs when you are connecting to another train for Marrakech, Rabat, Tangier, Fes or another city.
Take an official airport taxi or private transfer when your flight lands after the final train, your accommodation is far from a railway station, or you do not want to manage luggage and a second city taxi.
The Aérobus is another useful public option. It connects Mohammed V Airport with central Casablanca and can be more convenient than the train when one of its city stops is closer to your hotel.

Times and prices can change. Check your exact travel date with ONCF Voyages and the official Casabus Aérobus page before relying on a timetable.

The best Casablanca Airport to city centre option depends on your arrival time, luggage, hotel location and budget.

Where Is Casablanca Mohammed V Airport?

Mohammed V International Airport has the code CMN. It is near Nouaceur, outside the main urban centre of Casablanca.
That distance matters. Landing in Casablanca does not mean you are ten minutes from your hotel. In normal conditions, the road journey to central areas such as Gauthier, Maarif, the Old Medina or Casa-Port can take around 35 to 60 minutes. Heavy traffic can make it longer.
The airport’s location also explains why a city petit taxi is not the normal vehicle for the entire airport journey. Official airport taxis and pre-arranged vehicles handle these longer transfers.
Do not book an activity or important appointment too close to your scheduled landing time. Immigration, baggage collection, withdrawing cash and crossing Casablanca can easily turn a simple arrival into a longer one.

Taking the Train From Casablanca Airport to the City

ONCF train arriving at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport station
The ONCF train connects Mohammed V Airport with Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port.

For most daytime travelers, the Casablanca Airport to city centre train offers the best balance of price and convenience.
The railway station is in the basement of Terminal 1 with direct access from the airport concourse. Follow the train signs after you leave arrivals. You do not need to take a taxi to reach the station.
The airport’s official transport information currently lists direct trains to Bouskoura, Ennassim, Facultés, L’Oasis, Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port. It lists a journey of roughly 30 minutes to Casa-Voyageurs, with current published fares of 50 MAD in second class and 70 MAD in first class.
Trains generally operate from early morning until late evening, but schedules are not something I would copy into a travel plan months in advance. ONCF can adjust the timetable for works, holidays or operational changes. Check the official schedule for your arrival date.

Where to Buy Your Train Ticket

You can check schedules and buy tickets through the official ONCF website or app. Tickets are also normally available from the airport station.
If your international card fails online, do not panic. Go to the station and use the staffed counter or available ticket machines. Allow time to find the platform instead of planning a tight connection immediately after landing.
Second class is perfectly adequate for this short airport journey. First class may provide a little more comfort, but the difference matters less here than on a long intercity trip.

Casa-Port or Casa-Voyageurs: Which Station Should You Choose?

This is the decision that confuses many first-time visitors.
Get off at Casa-Port when:

  • Your hotel is in the central city area, near the Old Medina, Central Market, United Nations Square or the port.
  • Casablanca is your destination rather than a connection.
  • You want the more central arrival point for a short city stay.

Get off at Casa-Voyageurs when:

  • You are continuing by train to Marrakech, Rabat, Tangier, Fes or another city.
  • Your hotel is near Casa-Voyageurs.
  • Your onward ticket specifically tells you to change there.

Casa-Voyageurs is Casablanca’s main long-distance railway hub. Casa-Port is generally more convenient for many central hotels but is not the station to choose automatically for every national route.
Save your hotel’s full address before leaving the airport. Casablanca is large, and a hotel described as “central” may still be several kilometres from the station you choose.

When the Airport Train Is Not the Best Choice

The train is inexpensive, but it is not door to door.
After arriving at Casa-Port or Casa-Voyageurs, you may need a red petit taxi, tram or short walk to your accommodation. That can be easy with one suitcase and less pleasant with children, several bags or limited mobility.
I would also avoid building a risky same-day connection around the last train. If your flight is delayed and you miss it, you will need a taxi or transfer anyway.
The train is best when you arrive within operating hours, can manage your luggage and know which Casablanca station fits your plan.

Taking the Aérobus From Casablanca Airport

Casablanca now has a dedicated Aérobus linking Mohammed V Airport with the city centre.
The official Casabus information currently lists a flat fare of 50 MAD, payment by cash or bank card, and departures every 25 to 40 minutes. The published route serves central points including Casa-Port, United Nations Square and Arab League Park.
The operator currently advertises service seven days a week and displays operating information on its Aérobus page. Because airport bus timetables can be adjusted, check the page on your travel date rather than relying on a screenshot from an old blog.

Who Should Use the Aérobus?

The Aérobus can be a smart choice when:

  • Your accommodation is close to Casa-Port, United Nations Square, Arab League Park or another confirmed stop.
  • You want public transport but the bus stop works better than the railway station.
  • You prefer paying a fixed public-transport fare without arranging a taxi at the airport.

The bus is less attractive if your hotel is far from the route, you are carrying heavy luggage or traffic is slow. In those situations, the train may be more predictable or a transfer may be more comfortable.
Before boarding, show the driver or staff your hotel address and confirm the most useful stop. Do not assume that “city centre” is one small area.

Taking an Official Taxi From Casablanca Airport

Official airport taxis operate from the arrivals esplanade 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The airport authority says the taxis are identifiable by their signs and numbers, and a reception desk displays the fares.
Use the designated taxi area rather than following an unsolicited offer inside the terminal.
Online price estimates often place a journey to central Casablanca around 250 to 350 MAD, depending on the destination, time and current fare structure. Treat this as a planning range, not a guaranteed quotation.
Check the fare displayed at the official desk and confirm your destination and total price before your luggage is loaded. Ask whether the amount is for the vehicle or per passenger and whether any night or luggage charge applies.

When a Taxi Makes Sense

An official taxi is a reasonable choice when:

  • Your flight lands after public transport has stopped.
  • You are traveling with children, older relatives or several suitcases.
  • Your hotel is in Ain Diab, the Corniche, Gauthier, Maarif or another area that would require a second ride from the station.
  • You are sharing the fare with other travelers.
  • You want to leave immediately instead of waiting for the next train or bus.

The disadvantage is Casablanca traffic. A taxi is door to door, but it is not always faster than the train during busy periods.

Booking a Private Airport Transfer

A private transfer is the easiest option when you want your arrival arranged before you land.
The usual service includes a driver meeting you at arrivals, monitoring the flight and taking you directly to your hotel. Always read the booking conditions carefully. Check the waiting-time policy, number of passengers, luggage allowance, child-seat availability and what happens if your flight is delayed.
This option is especially useful for a late arrival, a family group or a first night when you do not want to solve transport decisions after a long flight.

Should You Rent a Car at Casablanca Airport?

Renting a car at CMN makes sense when Casablanca is only the beginning of a wider road trip.
It usually does not make sense when you are staying in central Casablanca for one or two nights. Traffic is busy, road positioning can be confusing, and parking may add more stress than freedom.
Consider an airport rental when you are leaving toward El Jadida, Oualidia, the Atlantic coast or another route where a car will be useful from the beginning. If your first nights are in central Casablanca, it can be easier to reach your hotel without a car and collect one later.
Before booking, compare the deposit, insurance exclusions, excess, fuel policy, mileage allowance and after-hours collection fee. Photograph the vehicle carefully before leaving the rental area.

Which Casablanca Airport Transfer Should You Choose?

Solo Traveler With Light Luggage

Take the train when it is operating. Get off at Casa-Port for many central stays or Casa-Voyageurs for an onward railway connection.

Couple Staying in Central Casablanca

The train is usually the best value if your hotel is close to Casa-Port. Compare the cost and effort of the final taxi with one direct airport taxi before deciding.

Family With Children

A pre-booked transfer or official taxi is normally easier. Carrying children and luggage through a station can remove the small saving very quickly.

Late-Night Arrival

Use the official taxi rank or a confirmed private transfer. Do not assume your flight will land early enough for the final train.

Traveler Continuing to Another Moroccan City

Take the airport train to Casa-Voyageurs and connect there according to your ONCF itinerary. Leave a generous margin between your flight and onward train.

Traveler Staying Near the Airport

Use the hotel’s confirmed shuttle if one is offered. Ask where the pickup point is, whether it is free, how often it runs and whether advance reservation is required.
For neighborhood and hotel advice, use my guide to Where to Stay in Casablanca.

Arriving Late at Casablanca Airport

A late landing changes the decision.
Even when the scheduled arrival looks comfortable, immigration and baggage collection can push you beyond the last public-transport departure. Build your plan around the time you will realistically leave the terminal, not the time printed on the flight ticket.
If you land very late, confirm one of these before flying:

  • Your hotel offers an airport shuttle and has your flight details.
  • Your private transfer includes delayed-flight monitoring.
  • You will use the official 24-hour taxi rank and verify the posted fare.

Do not plan to negotiate several transport steps at midnight just to save a small amount. For a tired traveler carrying luggage, a direct ride can be worth the difference.

Casablanca Airport to Marrakech, Rabat, Tangier or Fes

Mohammed V Airport is connected to Casablanca’s rail network, but that does not mean every national destination has a direct airport train.
For most onward journeys, take the airport service to Casa-Voyageurs and follow the connection shown on your ONCF ticket.

Casablanca Airport to Marrakech

Take the airport train to Casa-Voyageurs, then change for Marrakech. Allow enough time for immigration, baggage and a possible flight delay.
I do not recommend buying an inflexible connection that leaves shortly after your scheduled landing. Missing the train can cost more time than waiting for a later, safer departure.
For a complete comparison of the train connection, taxi and private-transfer options, read my Casablanca Airport to Marrakech guide.

Casablanca Airport to Rabat or Tangier

Casa-Voyageurs is the useful connection point for trains heading north. Al Boraq serves the Casablanca–Rabat–Kenitra–Tangier corridor, but the airport train itself is not Al Boraq.
Check whether your itinerary requires a change and confirm the station printed on the ticket.

Continuing to Tangier? My Casablanca to Tangier guide explains the change at Casa Voyageurs, Al Boraq booking and arrival at Tanger Ville. Allow time for immigration, baggage collection and the airport train before your onward departure.

Casablanca Airport to Fes

Rail is possible with a connection through Casablanca. The complete journey is longer, so compare the available departure time with an overnight stay if your flight arrives late.

Casablanca Airport to Agadir, Essaouira or Chefchaouen

These destinations do not have the same simple direct rail connection. You will need road transport for at least part of the journey.
Start with my Morocco Transportation Guide before combining trains, buses and private transfers.

Returning From Casablanca City to the Airport

The same choices work in reverse, but departure-day timing should be more conservative.
For the train, confirm the current schedule from Casa-Port, Casa-Voyageurs or L’Oasis and choose a service that leaves a generous airport margin. Do not choose the final possible train for an international flight.
For a taxi, ask your hotel to help confirm the pickup time and current fare. Morning and evening traffic can affect the road journey.
For a private transfer, reconfirm the pickup the day before and make sure the provider has the correct terminal, airline and flight time.
My rule is simple: arriving early at the airport is inconvenient; missing an international flight is expensive.

Useful Arrival Tips From a Moroccan Guide

Save the hotel name, full address, telephone number and map location offline. Casablanca has hotels with similar names, and the neighborhood matters.
Keep some Moroccan dirhams available for small transport expenses. Card payment is increasingly common, including on the Aérobus, but cash remains useful. My Money in Morocco guide explains ATMs, cards and cash.
Set up mobile data before leaving the terminal or download your route offline. If you want to arrange connectivity before flying, compare the options in my Best eSIM for Morocco guide.
Do not accept vague instructions such as “the main station.” Ask whether the person means Casa-Port, Casa-Voyageurs or another stop.
Allow extra time when rain, weekday rush hour, a large event or road works affect Casablanca. The distance may look short on a map, but this is Morocco’s largest city.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The first mistake is getting off at Casa-Voyageurs automatically when a hotel near Casa-Port would be easier.
The second is choosing the cheapest option without including the final taxi from the station to the hotel.
The third is trusting an old timetable copied into a blog. Check ONCF or Casabus directly for your date.
The fourth is accepting an airport taxi without confirming the posted fare and exact destination.
The fifth is booking a tight train connection after an international arrival.
The sixth is renting a car only to park it in central Casablanca for two days.

My Final Recommendation

Take the ONCF train if you arrive during operating hours, can manage your luggage and are staying near a useful station. It is the best-value choice for most independent travelers.
Choose the Aérobus when its central route fits your hotel better than the railway stations.
Use an official taxi or pre-booked private transfer for late arrivals, families, heavy luggage and door-to-door convenience.
The important decision is not simply “train or taxi.” It is matching the transport to your arrival time, hotel location and next destination. Do that before flying, and Casablanca becomes a much easier place to enter.
